Position Summary:
Hartgrove Hospital JOB TITLE: PRS Counselor (DAY) JOB SUMMARY: Responds to inquiry calls from nursing staff and mental health professionals regarding services. Provides information to clients regarding services available, both inside and outside the UHS System. Verifies client benefits with insurance companies. Assists the Emergency Services department with administrative tasks. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team, external case managers, managed care organizations, and also functions as a liaison with other hospital departments. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily. Education: Bachelor's degree in related field required. Experience: Two years experience in psychiatric care referrals for children, adolescents and adults. Licensure/Certification: N/A Knowledge: Working knowledge of Illinois Confidentiality Act, Illinois Mental Health Code, EMTALA and ILPA progress. Detailed understanding of psychiatric criteria for various levels of care. Thorough understanding of DSM-V criteria. Computer training/experience, crisis intervention and risk assessment, customer service skills, leadership skills.Highly organized, extremely detail-oriented and efficient. Excellent phone and communication skills; warm interpersonal style. Ability to obtain information from clients in a sensitive, but efficient manner. Patience & persistence to obtain information from insurance companies. Ability to relay this information to clients in a clear, easy to understand way. Working Conditions: Works in the Business Development department, the inpatient units, and other areas of the Hospital. Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable disease and risks associated with managing psychiatric patients with the potential to lose control and risks associated with the use of electrical equipment. Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and stooping.
