Position Summary:
Belmont Pines Hospital, the largest, freestanding behavioral health hospital in Ohio, serves northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, and provides comprehensive behavioral services for children and adolescents. The modern, 51,580-square-foot facility is located on nearly 20 wooded acres in Liberty Township, Ohio, and offers a safe and comfortable environment designed specifically for young patients. Our unique focus is child and adolescent behavioral health care. As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with BPH, you will be responsible for managing psychotropic medications for the clients of BPH. Duties include initial Psychiatric Evaluation of client and subsequent follow up visits for medication evaluation and management. BPH has an exciting opportunity available for a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner interested in contracted for 8-16 hours per week, whose focus is Behavioral Health. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is a professional who demonstrates a commitment in the assessment and management of mental health patients. They make independent and collaborative judgments in regards to the assessment, diagnosis and management of treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders, medical-mental conditions and substance abuse issues. He or she is expected to apply nursing and behavioral health policies when rendering care and providing health teaching to patients and families. ESSENTIAL & CORE FUNCTIONS: 1. Evaluates the needs of patients. 2. Develops a treatment plan. 3. Provides behavioral health care to patients. 4. Provides information to psychiatrists on the condition of the patient. 5. Provides medication to patients. 6. Educates patients about preventative care and the prescribed treatments. 7. Interacts with multidisciplinary team in a collegial manner.
1. A graduate degree from an accredited college or university in psychiatric nursing required. 2. Previous mental health experience preferred. 3. Valid OH nursing licenses in good standing required. COMPETENCIES & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS 1. Strong clinical skills. 2. Ability to design, develop and modify programming. 3. Excellent professional writing skills. 4. Excellent verbal communication skills. 5. Ability to work with an Electronic Format of Documentation. 6. Knowledge and experience with co-occurring disorders.
