Job Description

Reviews and approves all admissions to the adolescent program. Provides consultation for adolescent psychiatric population. Provides psychopharmacotherapy for adolescents. Evaluates patients who are receiving psychotropic medications regularly. Conducts individual adolescent psychotherapy. Conducts family psychotherapy. Oversees special treatment procedures (seclusion/restraint) for adolescents and authorizes each procedure. Orders neuropsychological testing of adolescents as needed. Performs educational, supervisory and medico-administrative services. Creates medical records, reports and documents. Serves on-call nights and weekends to provide medical services as needed. Attends department/management meetings, treatment teams, staffings, and other meetings as required. Assists in recruiting physicians and health professional affiliates to the School and advises the Chief Executive Officer on the growth and development of the medical staff. Reviews the School's compliance with the requirements for accurate and timely completion of medical records in accordance with the standards of JCAHO and other applicable accrediting, licensing, utilization review, and payor agencies. Keeps commitments extended to patients or customers.

Job Requirements

Successful completion of an accredited residency program in general psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology; advanced level knowledge of abnormal psychology and psychotherapy and advanced skills in the application of clinical treatment modalities with population served; current Utah license as a Psychiatrist;  effective oral and written communication skills; basic management or supervisory skills; skills in clinical supervision and training;  skills in interpreting and applying standards and regulations applicable to programs and services (e.g. JCAHO, HCFA, MHMR); public speaking or teaching/training skills desired; organizational, time management, problem-solving, crisis management, and team-building skills necessary; basic fiscal and human resources management skills useful; flexibility, creativity, and ability to manage stress necessary; skills in maintaining information as highly confidential.
