What You'll Do

Being a member of Cisco’s award-winning Public Relations team means playing a pivotal role in shaping the reputation of Cisco’s Security and Product technology group by properly positioning our best of breed products and unique architectural approach with key audiences.

As a Public Relations Manager, you’ll develop and execute on strategic PR programs, manage all PR aspects of Cisco Security and technology announcements, oversee the competitive response effort and seek out trend stories to smooth the "peaks and valleys" of launch-driven PR. You will as serve as an advisor for Cisco executives and other decision makers on all things PR.

In order to do all of this, you’ll need to maintain an understanding of Cisco’s broader business and technology landscape, with a "finger on the pulse" of relevant issues and trends that impact the company’s business and reputation.

Who You'll Work With

In this ever expanding digital world, a company’s profitability and growth depends on securing its most important assets— data and people. As such, you’ll engage with a multitude of groups, spanning from marketing, social media and analyst relations teams (developing and executing a wide range of proactive campaigns) to internal executives, influential reporters and bloggers of key technology and business outlets (print, broadcast, online and social media). You’ll also collaborate with business units, marketing and event planning teams to develop PR programs for Cisco events related to Security (e.g. Cisco Live).

Your passion for media relations is obvious through your enthusiasm and ability to communicate, influence and build solid interpersonal relationships. In addition, you’re adept at leveraging social media channels and tools to support communications objectives. You must have strong organizational, project and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and balance priorities in an ever changing environment.

At minimum, we require:
  • BA/BS degree 
  • 7-10 years of related experience in public relations/corporate communications 
  • Demonstrated success in media relations with channel, technology, business, broadcast and social media outlets
  • Tangible and current relationships with relevant trade and business media and reporters
  • Previous experience creating, managing, and executing innovative and results-driven security product PR programs in partnership with relevant stakeholders
  • Excellent writing skills, with the demonstrated ability to draft high-quality news communications (internal and external)
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of channel and go-to-market strategies and programs preferred
