Description The R&D Benchtop Lead will ensure the continuing operation of IT benchtop systems (~5000 globally distributed) for Research & Development Business Technology. This is done through the use of standard procedures, domain knowledge, application administration and facilitation methods that ensure successful operations. The role will also require facilitating team members to handle project work, manage business impact issues, conduct daily operations, establish proactive collaborations as needed, and provide strategic initiatives to manage the benchtop environment globally. The role will also lead the Corporate wide Benchtop Community of Practice (CoP) providing standards and guidance to all Pfizer research sites with benchtop computers

+ Own strategy and full lifecycle services for standard Windows benchtop devices.

+ Direct activities of matrix resources (colleagues and contractors) for the implementation of strategy and services

+ Develop inventory tracking and management of benchtop computers to allow accurate and effective planning of assets

+ Collaborate with application and portfolio owners, vendors and Pfizer instrument services (GIS) and procurement

+ Experience in planning and implementing IT solutions for large scale projects

+ 5+ years of IT experience and 2+ years in supporting the scientific and lab systems in the biotech/pharma GxP industry. 7+ years of experience preferred.

+ Bachelor's degree in a computer science or scientific discipline or other similar field. Complementary degree in life sciences is a plus

+ Understanding of business processes in one or more areas of pharma R&D, manufacturing, operations, quality.

+ Proven ability in providing clear, timely, and accurate communication at the right level of details with all level of users to produce desired results - including interaction with directors and managers.

+ Proven ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; and can work independently.

+ Proven analytical, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.

+ Desire to learn/grow related to the R&D systems, applications and data needs.

+ Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work in a team environment, follow written policies/procedures, maintain superior customer service at all times with all users.

+ Must be a strong technical problem solver address a wide range of issues from database, network, application, user and vendor related issues.

+ Embrace and thrive in a matrix environment.

+ Make basic tactical and operational decisions based on the collection and analysis of information related to direct areas of responsibility to solve problems. Operate independently; respond to ambiguous situations and shifting priorities within a work group or department.

+ Solid Microsoft Windows Operating System experience from standalone to enterprise. Must have a strong work experience using and administrating Windows systems.

+ Inventory and configuration management for thousands of devices geographically distributed at multiple research sites.

+ Windows scripting and general programming experience.

+ Experience with Active Directory and a good understanding of LDAP.

+ Experience with Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic, Macro development, SQL would be preferred.

+ Experience with enterprise level system builds and enterprise management tools necessary.

+ Familiarity with integrating applications with work flow in a laboratory setting is a plus.

+ Knowledge of Virtual Machines/virtualization is preferred.

+ Knowledge of computer validation principles and 21 CFR Part 11 a plus
