Position Description:
POSITION PURPOSE:
Performs routine but varied clerical duties. This includes duties such as photocopying, compiling records, filing, tabulating, posting information, and distributing mail. Maintains records, prepares forms, verifies information and resolves routine problems.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Coordinates and expedites the flow of product with vendors and stores. Communicates completion dates for deliverables. 
  • Communicates with carriers to avoid transit delays. 
  • Schedules and coordinates the efficient distribution of products in order to satisfy store demand. 
  • Analyzes and revises shipment plans as required. Works with other departments to ensure sore satisfaction and accuracy of shipment records. 
  • Assigns product to trucks according to such factors as length and purpose of trip, freight requirements, and user preference. Investigates overdue vehicles. 
  • Confers with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed or damaged merchandise. 
  • Compares and verifies identifying information/shipping records on incoming or outgoing shipments with bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records. Verifies that materials received are as ordered in both type and quantity and maintains related files and records. 
  • Prepares appropriate documentation for domestic or international shipments. 
  • Maintains records. 
  • Greets vendors, customers, job applicants and other visitors, and arranges for escort services, as appropriate. Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
  • Typically reports to Department Supervisor. 
  • Considers among a few options that are already established or follows well-defined policy and past practice when solving problems. 
  • Assignments vary and follow a few different procedures that allow choices from a few solutions. 
  • Follows existing procedures to which he/she can make some changes to solve problems. 
  • Frequently in contact with people outside the work group to share information

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:


Environment:

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel:

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Additional Environmental Job Requirements:

Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
Minimal or no educational requirement for this job.

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

  • Requires ability to use computer systems/PCs, and familiarization with systems, reports, procedures, etc. 
  • Flexibility, problem solving, and organization skills.
