Job Description

Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services is the only freestanding, full-service psychiatric hospital in the Birmingham Area.  It draws on a rich tradition while staying on the cutting edge of new developments in treating psychiatric illness and enhancing mental health.  We treat mental illness, emotional problems, and adults with chemical dependency.

Hill Crest BHS currently has a Receptionist - PRN position available. He/She will preform Receptionist duties that will include supportive clerical tasks as assigned.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Demonstrates ability to coordinate hospital communication

  • Answers all calls in a prompt and courteous manner

  • Routes all calls to appropriate destination

  • Has knowledge of fire control panel and adheres to policies and procedures

  • Courteously greets all visitors entering the facility

  • Notifies inpatient units of visitors outside of regular hours

  • Notifies appropriate persons when scheduled appointments arrive 

  • Maintains visitor sign-in logs

  • Maintains confidentiality

  • Allows only appropriate persons access to inpatient unit 

  • Assures all callers/visitors have correct patient ID number

  • Has knowledge of Hospital codes

  • Call and Document Hospital codes as they occur

  • Keep facilities keys secured at all times

  • Assures all visitors in and sign out and return keys to security lockers for personal belongings

 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Knowledge ofall phases oftelephone and telecommunication services

  • Ability to handle light typing and clerical duties

  • Knowledge of Computer Applications

  • Positive guest relations demeanor

  • Experience and workable knowledge of general office procedures

  • New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

  • Must successfully pass background check and drug screen.
