Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses our full service cafeteria and New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. We provide numerous recreational activities including an in-ground swimming pool, game room, playground, basketball courts, and gymnasium. The multi-disciplinary staff at Laurel Oaks collaborates to ensure that services provided are clinically and medically appropriate and highly coordinated among all treatment disciplines. Laurel Oaks specializes in the treatment of youth who have multiple challenges and special needs. All children served at Laurel Oaks have a primary psychiatric disorder but most also have co-occurring conditions such as intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or physical/sexual abuse victimization. Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is currently seeking a seasoned Receptionist to join our Communications team. 


The Receptionist will be on-call and work approximately 5-10 HOURS PER WEEK.  They will:

  • Coordinate hospital communication

  • Answer all calls in a prompt and courteous manner

  • Have knowledge of all hospital codes

  • Respond to emergency situations in a calm professional manner

  • Courteously greets all visitors entering the facility

  • Notify inpatient units of visitors outside of regular hours

  • Type assigned tasks when needed

  • Maintain confidentiality of facility and patient matters

  • Assure visitors’ card information is current on all inpatients

  • Allows only appropriate persons access to facility areas

  • Assure all caller/visitors have correct patient ID number

  • Maintain visitor sign in log for accuracy

  • Demonstrate professional work ethic

  • Assist in other areas when requested

  • Maintain good working relationship with other areas

  • Adhere to all hospital/departmental policies

  • Successful completion of all applicable demonstrational competencies


Job Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Ability to handle general typing and clerical duties

  • Positive guest relations demeanor

  • Experience and workable knowledge in general office procedures

  • Knowledge of all phases of telephone and other communication operations
