Lincoln Prairie Behavioral Health Center is a Joint Commission approved and state licensed facility for 88 beds, which includes pediatric units, adolescent girls, adolescent boys, and MISA (Mental Illness Substance Abuse) unit. We are committed to providing youth with compassionate treatment that encourages self-responsibility and personal growth. Lincoln Prairie provides treatment to children and adolescents (ages 3-17) that present with a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral disorders. Lincoln Prairie offers an array of outpatient programs. We provide educational programs, enhanced Occupational Therapy services, Recreational Therapy, Art and Music Therapy, while utilizing a holistic treatment approach.

We are seeking a PRN Receptionist to support Lincoln Prairie’s mission. The Receptionist is responsible for greeting and assisting all visitors, answering the switchboard, preparing and coding daily receivables, maintaining the facility census book, documenting incoming deliveries, processing incoming and outgoing mail and providing clerical support, as requested. In addition, the Receptionist prepares weekday deposits, prepares monthly statements for mailing, assists with various admissions during after hour shifts, if assigned. May be required to work occasional overtime, holidays and flexible hours.

The primary responsibilities of this position, include:

  • Follow the facility guest relations program when greeting and assisting all visitors, ensuring all visitors sign the visitor log and obtain a visitor pass.
  • Answer and disseminate all incoming calls on the switchboard in a professional and courteous manner within three rings.
  • Utilize the paging system to announce callers, as required.
  • Process and oversee payroll dissemination.
  • Assist with entering patient visits on a daily basis, as needed.
  • Process all outgoing and incoming mail.
  • Provide assistance to patients and employees, such as making change, checking valuables, providing meal tickets and providing postage, as requested.
  • Complete a variety of clerical projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to facility, department, corporate, personnel and standard policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of facility employees and patient information.
  • Pass on general information, when switching shifts.
Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High school graduate or GED required.
  • Experience: Two (2) years’ experience on a multi-line telephone switchboard, preferably in a health care environment or any combination of education, training or experience in a hospital environment.
  • Licensure/Certification: Successful completion of CPR certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of basic business office/accounting duties. Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures. Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to recommend/take corrective courses of action that would improve the functioning of the department’s systems. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers. Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures. Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information. Ability to work as a team player. Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication. Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures. Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent and children). Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Ability to meet corporate deadlines. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.  Push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds.  Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Environmental Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.
