Job Description

Riveredge Hospital is a 210-bed acute care facility located in Forest Park, IL providing mental health services to the Chicagoland community and state of Illinois since 2007. Being a three-time Joint Commission Top Performer, Riveredge Hopital has a Part-Time (Weekends and Holidays) Receptionist position available. Serves as a Guest Ambassador to visitors to Riveredge Hospital.  Positively affects customer services to stakeholders through effective switchboard management, lobby milieu management and the smooth implementation of safety protocols.

Observes proper phone protocols and understands the relationship between Communications and the Hospital.

  1. Answers and disseminates all incoming calls on the switchboard in a professional and courteous manner. Must communicate effectively with courteous phone and interpersonal skills.

  2. Maintain a neat,professional appearance consistent with the hospital dress codes. Represents the hospital in a manner which confers a professional, courtesy, caring and cooperative attitude.

  3. Helpful, supportive and respectful and communicating with others.

  4. Have knowledge of building layout and give appropriate directions.

  5. Adhere to HIPPA regulations and hospital confidentiality policies.


Provides excellent customer service.

  1. Recognizes internal and external customer satisfaction, acknowledging that everyone who enters the workspace, consumers and staff, is a customer.

  2. Provides assistance to consumers and employees, such as passing out guest stickers, assisting with securing guests' belongings and sorting mail.

  3. Inform staff when guests with scheduled appointments arrive.



Security in Reception Area

  1. Accounts for all patients in the reception area at all times.

  2. Demonstrates knowledge of all code procedures.

  3. Adheres to emergency procedures and any safety guidelines.


    Miscellaneous Duties

  4. If assigned, provides clerical support to other departments within the hospital.

  5. Accept deliveries of packages, letters and flowers in accordance with HIPPA and hospital policies when receiving goods.

  6. Assure return of keys by delivery personnel.

  7. Sign receipt for all deliveries and maintain copy.


Job Requirements

Two years of experience in a customer service field using a multi-line switchboard. Preferred experience in a healthcare setting, but not required. High school diploma required, additional coursework preferred. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products including: Outlook, Word and Excel. Excellent verbal communication skills, ability to multi-task in a high stress environment.  Maintain CPI certification. Spanish language proficiency in addition to English preferred.
