Michael’s House Treatment Center is a refuge of healing and recovery nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains in Palm Springs, California. FRN is currently seeking a Records Management Specialist, to be responsible for ensuring that all security measures are maintained for medical records. We are looking for a Records Management Specialist who would like to work in a team-oriented environment, who is willing to go the extra mile to make sure the records department is meticulously maintained. This position is located at Foundations Recovery Network’s facility, Michael’s House, in Palm Springs, California. ::

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Maintains all closed medical records
• Responds to requests for medical records
• Pulls records as requested by staff, including daily pulls for appointments
• Files documentation presented by clinical staff
• With appropriate, signed request for information, copies records upon proper request for billing, legal services, or medical records requests
• Requests historical records from other organizations according to policy
• Knows standards for medical records maintenance and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, ADP, and CARF requirements
• Tracks information needed to meet medical record standards, auditing the records and ensuring the records are complete before they are closed
• Keeps supervisor informed of problems or issues; monitors supplies needed


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must have high level of interpersonal skills, as this position continually requires demonstrated professionalism, tact, and diplomacy
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to pay continual attention to detail
• Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
• Exercise good judgment and successfully handle ambiguity
• Understanding of diverse cultures
• Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources, and all other contacts
• Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing and spreadsheets (MS Word, Excel)
• A current, valid driver’s license is required


Education/Experience
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with medical records
