Job Description

Set in the breathtaking landscape of Northern Idaho, Northwest Academy is a premiere therapeutic residential high school that is specifically designed to meet the unique needs of older adolescents 16-18 years of age. Over a one year period faculty assist students as they transition to young adulthood.  Northwest Academy creates opportunities for students to pursue maturity and success.

Northwest Academy currently has an opening for a full time Recovery Specialist.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Provide student evaluation and assessment interviews to determine necessity and level of treatment.

  • Develop individualized treatment plan for students for review by treatment team.

  • Review progress and update plans at intervals based upon program requirement.

  • Conduct and document individual counseling sessions as required.

  • Conduct and document group counseling, including psycho-educational, therapeutic process and relapse prevention group sessions.

  • Facilitate on and off site panels.

  • Coordinate student treatment with the interdisciplinary team as appropriate.

  • High level of coordination with interdisciplinary team with hands on approach with students during daily activities.

  • Work with the treatment team to develop aftercare plans.

  • Participate in weekly treatment team meetings.

  • Participate in monthly in-service trainings and presents on topics of expertise as requested.

  • Complete documentation and reports in a legible, accurate and timely fashion.

  • May be responsible for providing training to identified staff in the area of substance abuse.

  • Perform crisis intervention work and/or prepare families for planned interventions as necessary.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or related field preferred; and/or equivalent combination of experience.

  • Certification in Substance Abuse Rehabilitation preferred.

  • Chemical Dependency and/or Substance Abuse counseling experience – prefer two years.

  • Work history reflecting experience in residential mental health facility working with adolescents.

Schedule:  Work schedule will include some evenings and weekends.

Salary:  The starting hourly non-exempt wage for this position is $15 – $19.00 per hour depending on education and experience.
