POSITION SUMMARY: The Recreational Therapist is responsible for assessing patients’ leisure and recreational activities, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups and establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of The Pavilion. Hours vary based on staffing and patient needs and include day, evening and weekend shifts. The Recreational Therapist supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. The Recreational Therapist reports to the Director of Clinical Services.   Demonstrates leadership in the provision of therapeutic recreational services through a collaborative process designed to integrate services/functions throughout a patient’s term of service while at The Pavilion. Directs and provides daily operations and activities of the Pavilion Therapeutic Recreation services. Position must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including, children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients. Position must attend and participate in weekly treatment plan meetings.

Job Requirements

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Education: Bachelors or Master’s degree in related Recreational Therapies field.

Experience: Two years experience in Recreational Therapy field working with a mental health population, prior supervisory experience and program development preferred. Prefer knowledge of group leadership skills, age specific growth and development, crisis and behavior management.

Licensure/Certification: Possesses current registration, certification or licensure in accordance with state and /or national board standards of specific field of allied health (i.e., art, recreational, music, occupational therapy, psychodrama therapy).

Physical and Sensory Requirements:

4. Ability to respond to pages

5. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions

6. Bending and lifting (5-10 lbs), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling.
