We continue to grow and expand our services to meet the demands of the community for inpatient psychiatric beds; and currently have immediate need for a PRN Recreational Therapist at our Adult Hospital.

Position Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, this position is responsible for performing recreation therapy assessments and groups within the specifications of treatment plans and program guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform recreation therapy assessments within procedural timelines
  • Provide crisis intervention, behavior management, and behavior modification as needed and specified in the individual treatment plan and unit program guidelines
  • Organizes and conducts patient recreation therapy groups daily
  • Documents group participation, according to documentation requirements
  • Reviews data with treatment team members, as needed   
Job Requirements


Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or related field or Master’s Degree in Art or Music or Dance Therapy.

• North Carolina license and National Certification as a recreation therapist.
• If an art, music, or dance therapist, it is preferred that applicant is working toward certification in the field of specialty or as a LPC.

• Minimum of two years experience in therapeutic recreation in a psychiatric or rehabilitation setting.
• Experience in evaluating staff against the criteria in their job description preferred.
