Sodexo has an outstanding opportunity for a Registered Dietitian as a Regional Dietitian with at least 3 years of lead or management experience to come join their dynamic team at Lake Washington, a large suburban district east of Seattle comprising of 39 school sites.  


This position provides regional supervision of menu planning, recipe development and product documentation for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program to ensure meal pattern compliance with Federal regulations, client satisfaction and retention for Sodexo. Additionally, implements business practices in order to uphold Company mission and values and contributes to account revenues and operating profit contributions through the implementation of services.


The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Dietitian with at least 5 years of experience (at least 3 years lead or management experience)
  • Serve in a leadership role on the Food and Nutrition Services team along with other manager’s and have strong demonstrated leadership skills
  • Have strong management skills nutrition services, with a strong comprehension of the principles of clinical nutrition practice and regulatory compliance
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Have a proven a track record of proactive of Project Management, Delegating & Directing, Achieving Solutions, Leading Change and be an outstanding team player;
  • Delegating and Directing: Has strong ability and willingness to delegate the authority to complete work activities, giving clear direction as to what needs to be done, and holding accountability to predetermined deadline and/or measure of quality to ensure quality and timely completion of assignments
  • Achieving Solutions: Have the ability to effectively resolve problems. This includes identifying and analyzing key information from multiple sources; facilitation the determination of the root causes of problems and finding solutions to eliminate them; proactively anticipating potential problems and implementing or modifying systems to prevent their occurrence; and recommending alternative solutions to resolving issues
  • Leading Change: to promote an environment within the organization that embraces change, new ideas, and innovative thinking. This includes recognizing and rewarding others for trying new or different ideas or ways of thinking, challenging the organization to achieve and sustain competitive advantage; and removing barriers to change

In addition, this position will:

  • Interpret local, state and federal policies and/or laws pertaining to the National School Lunch and Breakfast Program as well as Nutritional Guidelines for All Foods Sold in Schools
  • Coordinate menu planning to ensure acceptability and nutritional compliance within financial constraints
  • Promote a positive public relations image and fulfills contractual obligations to clients to ensure account retention
  • Conduct professional learning programs
  • Promote communication between purchasing and nutrition departments
  • Maintain nutrient and menu database by updating federal and state processed commodity products as well as purchased products.  Add and revise regional recipes.
  • Collect, update and maintain product labels and formulation statements for back-up documentation
  • Provide guidance and support for Administrative Reviews, identifying and training both management and hourly staff on best practices in menu planning, training, reviewing and verifying production records, product labels and Offer vs Serve.
  • Provide guidance in developing and implementing plans to correct problems identified through Administrative Review Processes
  • Plan, monitor and manage nutrition or menu projects from initiation to completion
  • Assist with modification of products/services to meet nutritional and operational needs
  • Provide input regarding opportunities for product/service or brand enhancements
  • Further develop regional marketing and promotion calendar through company resources as well as using creativity to bring new and exciting innovative ideas to engage student and employee participation
  • Manage communication between key nutrition and purchasing personnel and departments.
  • Maintain flow of communication to and between all regional accounts regarding menus, PrimeroEdge, Administrative Reviews, promotions, communication resources and product procurement
  • Identify and clarify client/customer needs and expectations, taking actions to ensure that Sodexo and customer goals are met
  • Educate and develop rapport with client/customers and promote partnership by responding to client/customer request
  • Develop rapport with external vendors and state department representatives to ensure external support and positive public relations

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services including those for complex needs at multi-sites under 1 contract or within a defined region under multiple contracts.  .
Key Duties
- Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
- Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
- Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
- Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.
- Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
- Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments.



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
