Develops strategies to increase positive business impact within fresh for assigned region and oversees their implementation by evaluating competitors, internal and external influences, threats, and industry trends; analyzing key performance indicators and trends and developing regional conclusions; developing regional strategies for fresh operations and gaining buy-in from regional operations leadership; ensuring that regional level strategies are aligned with company’s fresh Merchandising, Logistics and Operation’s strategies; evaluating programs and developing program changes based on regional needs; overseeing implementation solutions for fresh strategic initiatives; overseeing implementation and determining effectiveness of training programs that support fresh and tracking performance results and adapting strategy to increase positive impact initiatives; hiring, training and development of new Fresh Operations Managers to meet or exceed company goals; developing a succession plan for maintaining a pipeline of talent for the future.
Drives fresh area financial and operational performance for assigned region by reviewing and influencing budgeting, processes, and performance across the region; managing the fresh profit and loss statements (P&L) for the region; tracking and analyzing key financial metrics (for example, sales, profit, gross margin, shrink, key expense lines, food waste); evaluating and addressing financial and inventory performance; collaborating with Operation’s regional leadership to address underperforming markets and stores and performance accountability; developing and overseeing necessary operational changes; and communicating financial results to senior leadership team to align on corrective actions taken and root causes resolved with Field and Home Office Teams.
Drives the execution of fresh operational improvement programs focused on the customer experience within the region by conducting store visits and program audits; soliciting and consolidating feedback from regional and market support teams; identifying and investigating concerns and areas of opportunity (for example, food safety, compliance, waste reduction, supply chain process impact); teaching and training on fresh processes, programs and procedures; analyzing and addressing the root cause of issues; collaborating with stakeholders(for example, store management, regional leadership, Merchants, Replenishment, Logistics) to develop solutions; providing guidance, direction and training on solution and program improvements; collaborating with regional leadership to build action plans and ensure stores are enabled to succeed; and leading the implementation of regional action plans.
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Food Science, Business or related field and 4 years’ experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field OR 6 years’ experience in agricultural quality control, agronomy, food retail management, or related field.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience managing a profit and loss statement (P&L).
- 5 years’ supervisory experience.
- 5 years’ analytics experience.
- 10 years’ experience in food safety, food quality, or related field.
