+ The Regional Internal Medicine (IM) Medical Lead serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the region, providing medical leadership to the region & responsible for developing and executing the Regional Medical Team's vision and strategy in alignment with the Regional President.

+ The Regional Internal Medicine Medical Lead is the single point of accountability for medical in the region - across all the markets & the Internal Medicine product portfolio. The Country Medical colleagues for the Internal Medicine organization report to the Regional Medical Lead.

+ The Regional Medical Lead is responsible for managing high performing Country Medical organizations & ensures that country medical functions systems, processes & activities are fully aligned with local, regional and Internal Medicine business priorities, strategies and needs, as well as, in compliance with corporate policies & guidelines.

+ Also serves as the key regional liaison for the country medical departments, with country/regional/HQ Commercial, Medical, Clinical Affairs, Regulatory, Safety, Corporate Affairs and, Legal functions.

+ The Regional Medical Lead provides medical guidance and input to the regulatory, safety and commercial leadership teams in support of key product maintenance & defense activities.

+ The Regional IM Medical Lead is an integral member of the multifunctional/multinational Leadership Team. In partnership with other members of the LT, develops strategic partnerships with key clinical and other stakeholders; developing strategies aligned to customer needs in order to maintain a therapeutic leadership position and drive business needs at regional and country level.

+ The lead also focuses on ensuring excellence with respect to medical quality and compliance as well as professional external relations through participation/leadership of the Regional Medical Council.

+ Responsible for IM Emerging Asia Medical Affairs group in Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, P hilippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand

+ Managerial

+ Responsible for the recruitment and development of all Medical Affairs staff to ensure the appropriate levels of skills to achieve the departmental objective.

+ Responsible for ensuring the performance management of all Medical Affairs staff including goal setting, performance monitoring and evaluation, career guidance and developmental opportunities.

+ Sustain Medical expertise by self-studying and internal/external academic training.

+ Develop the key competency and career path for the positions in medical affairs team, and explore opportunities for team member to growth accordingly.

+ Actively create an environment of positive, openness, innovation and inclusiveness.

+ Develop team vision and culture with team members, and engage team member to work

+ Education: MD Required

+ Experience

+ Strong medical background and clinical practice experience.

+ Robust experience in the medical affairs function in the pharmaceutical industry with broad expertise in medical & strong experience with regulatory and/or safety risk management issues.

+ Experience of direct management of in-country medical operations, including field-based medical affairs

+ Experience of above-country medical brand management

+ Past Experience of working as a Medical Director & line management experience in a large country organization

+ Comprehensive understanding of the regional/ international health environment & profound knowledge of the relevant and applicable regional/international legislation, regulations, Codes of Practice, and guidelines

+ Knowledge of pharmacovigilance practice and legislation and how it impacts product portfolio

+ Proactive, pragmatic, flexible person with excellent leadership qualities, strategic thinking, communication & presentation skills

+ Demonstrated ability to have impact on the business

+ Fluency in English; desirable to have fluency in another local language.

+ Ability to work successfully with cross-functional staff in a team setting

+ Analytic and organizational skills in managing, interpreting, and presenting clinical and marketing data, for regional assessment

+ Ability to communicate, develop, and manage collaborative relationships with external academic institutions, co-operative groups, and medical professionals
