Unit Description

Sodexo has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Dietitian at Clara Mass Medical Center, a 469 bed acute care hospital located in Belleville, NJ (Newark, NJ Metro area). This position is uniquely responsible for working with Medical/Surgical/ICU patients and may occasionally cover outpatient services, and other areas throughout the hospital as needed. This position also may occasionally cover community events.


Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Dietitian with at least 1-2 years prior experience as a Clinical Dietitian in an acute care setting
  • Have prior knowledge utilizing the nutrition care process and electronic medical records charting as well as experience with systems such as Health Touch
  • Have excellent communication skills while providing education to patients, staff and the community
  • Effectively work in collaboration as part of a team and independently
  • Be a self-starter, a team player, and possess good time management skills and must be able to work well with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff
  • Pass a competency to obtain order writing privileges

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services
Key Duties
-Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.
-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
-Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..


Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience -  Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
