Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Registered Dietitian to join a dynamic nutrition team at a ~300 bed hospital in Charleston, SC. This individual will primarily be responsible for nutrition care in a 28-bed critical care unit. 


Position will report to the Clinical Nutrition Manager and ideal candidate will:


  • Provide comprehensive nutrition care at Trident Health, primarily Trident Medical Center
  • Participate in food service initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction
  • Precept dietetic interns
  • Use clinical research and evidence-based practice to develop patient focused care plans
  • Provide nutrition and wellness education to medical staff
  • Lead and participate in performance improvement projects
  • Achieve nutrition support competencies and provide nutrition support to patients, including management of customized TPN
  • Uphold order writing privilege policies in line with current hospital standards
  • Implement business practices in order to uphold Sodexo and Trident Health’s mission and values
  • Maintain and develop client relationships and client satisfaction
  • Participate in departmental, clinical, and other meetings related to areas of practice
  • Fulfill contractual obligations to the client to ensure account retention
  • Utilize electronic medical records within the practice environment and be familiar with the Nutrition Care Process and Meditech Electronic System


The ideal candidate is:

  • A passionate leader who is willing to stay current with the scientific literature and help staff, patients, and families understand nutrition strategies to support and improve quality of life and clinic outcomes
  • a CNSC (or is able to complete this within 6 months of hire)
  • An excellent communicator and has the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Able to creatively problem solve, work independently with minimal supervision and make decisions while working within a self-directed and team-oriented work environment
  • Able to cross-cover the health system on weekend and holiday rotations (Trident and Summerville Medical Centers)
  • Licensed in the state of South Carolina

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services
Key Duties
-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.
-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
-Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
