Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a Part-Time (24 hours week )Registered Dietitian to join our dynamic team at Straub Medical Center, an acute care facility, licensed for 159 beds in Honolulu, HI.

 

Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager the selected candidate will:

  • Be a Registered Dietitian with at least 1 year of acute care experience for this inpatient position
  • Have Experience with Nutrition Care Process and electronic medical record
  • Provide inpatient cross coverage with some high acuity (ICU, burn unit) population and includes some weekends and holidays
  • Conduct nutrition assessments and interventions for patients with disease processes which require nutritional management and impact on nutritional status and document them in an electronic medical record
  • Provide professional guidance and education to clinical staff and students
  • Follow and develop assessment and education materials, protocols, and programs that are necessary for providing comprehensive nutritional care
  • Be well versed in nutrition support and able to perform routine patient care responsibilities without training and direction
  • Round with medical and other health care staff on patient care units
  • Participate in Performance Improvement and Patient Satisfaction projects
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, customer service, and computer and time management skills
  • Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services
Key Duties
-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.
-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
-Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
