Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a Registered Dietitian to come join their dynamic clinical team at Blythedale Childrens Hospital, a 105 bed acute care rehab and long term care Pediatric Specialty  Hospital, with its own K-12 public school district on site, located in Valhalla, NY.  Position is full time working 40 hours per week with benefits.

Position reports to Clinical Nutrition Manager and ideal candidate will:

  • Conduct the nutritional assessments of infants, children, and adolescents 0 through 21 years of age
  • Comply with Federal, State, Local and accreditation standards with regards to provision to nutritional care
  • Participate in family and discharge planning conferences in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Provide nutrition education in accordance with hospital policy and accreditation standards
  • Conduct monthly Quality Improvement measures as assigned by the Clinical Nutrition Manager
  • Assist the Clinical Nutrition Manager with menu planning and selection for patient meal service
  • Support culinary program through weekly tray assessments and meal rounds


The ideal candidate will have: 


  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Dietitian, Pediatric experience desired
  • Long term care experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with the Nutrition Care Process
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • The ability to be a self-starter and act as liaison between the department and the Client



Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services
Key Duties
-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.
-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.
-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.
-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.
-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.
-Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
