Job Description

The Pride Institute is the nation’s first and leading provider of residential and outpatient treatment programs exclusively treating substance abuse and mental health needs of the LGBTQ+ community.  We have been providing our clients a comfortable, safe alternative to traditional treatment programs for over 30 years.

Would you like to become part of collaborative staff who support each other and believe that the life-changing help that we provide can bring us satisfaction and sometimes even joy?

We are looking for caring and compassionate Registered Nurses to join our exemplary staff.  Would you like to work full-time?  We have full-time hours available!  Would you prefer part-time?  We have part-time hours available, too!  Or would PRN work best for you? Our goal is to work with our staff to develop schedules that allow them to balance their work and personal lives while ensuring optimal staffing levels to provide continuous excellent client care.

Needless to say (but we'll say it anyway), our RNs are never bored...  Our RNs are responsible for a multitude of duties, tasks, and last minute decisions, including:

  • performing nursing assessments and documenting client information and nursing care in the client record

  • reassessing and documenting any changes in the client's condition in compliance with facility policy

  • accurately administering medication to clients

  • recognizing behaviors and setting appropriate limits in clear, concise, and non-judgmental terms

  • maintaining compliance with all hospital annual competencies, as well as CPR and First Aid

  • providing pertinent feedback to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding client response to therapy, treatment interventions and therapeutic objectives, as appropriate and necessary

  • collaborating with other staff professionals in planning for discharge and follow-up care

  • employing principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem solving skills, and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions

Pride Institute’s RNs are:

  • able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
  • able to work in a fast-paced environment and to problem solve utilizing good judgment
  • able to maintain confidentiality
  • able to work equally effectively, whether independently or as a team player, depending upon the circumstances
  • able to communicate effectively with clients and co-workers
  • able to adhere to safety policies and procedures
  • able to leap tall buildings in a single bound - well, maybe not this one, but our RNs are pretty great!
Job Requirements

Ideal candidates would possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred)
  • Some psychiatric/mental health and/or chemical dependency nursing experience (preferred, but exceptional new grads without it will definitely be considered)
  • A MN RN license (required)
  • Knowledge of therapeutic milieu management techniques (required)
  • Effective human relations and client relations skills (required)
