Dover Behavioral Health System is a private psychiatric facility providing behavioral health care services to adults and adolescents. DBHS is located in a beautiful campus setting east of Dover, DE and Georgetown, DE offering inpatient and partial hospitalization for adolescents and adults. Treatment includes comprehensive individual assessment; psychiatric evaluations and medication stabilization; physical exam and follow up; dual diagnosis programming and many other services which guide the patient to a healthy lifestyle.

 

Dover Behavioral Health System is currently seeking a Full-time RN for 3-11 shift.

General Purpose of Job: To deliver high-quality, compassionate, and therapeutic patient care.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Participate in the development and practice of the field of nursing in accordance with the facility and department's philosophy, objectives, standards, policies and procedures
  • Plan, provide, and evaluate patient care through quality Nursing Assessments
  • Documents observations, treatments, interventions, patient teaching and responses according to the facility and department’s policy and procedures
  • Develop staff assignments at the start of the shift and delegates tasks to appropriate staff and takes responsibility to ensure that the delegated tasks are completed prior to end of the shift
  • Serve as a leader and role model for patients and hospital staff
  • Develop a therapeutic relationship with patients using strong communication skills and that incorporates the treatment plan goals, objectives, and interventions
  • Maintain a therapeutic and patient-centered milieu on the unit
  • Attend treatment team meetings and collaborates with physicians, therapists, and other team members in planning patient care
  • Administer patient medications as prescribed by physician in a safe, accurate and timely manner utilizing the "Five Rights" of medication administration.
  • Completes all documentation timely, accurately and in accordance to nursing standards/facility policies and procedures
  • Transcribe and carry out physician orders and performs nursing procedures according to facility policies and procedures
  • Evaluate patient status and acuity and provide therapeutic intervention
  • Maintains a safe, clean and organized work environment
  • Maintains a positive and professional attitude and appearance; Communicate with other staff, visitors, and patients with compassion and courtesy
  • Perform transcription of medication orders in a timely and error free manner
  • Complete Adverse Drug Reaction forms and forward to Pharmacist.
  • Assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living
  • Identify, document, and report any and all instances of adult or child abuse and neglect to the appropriate parties including a member of management, the police, and state agencies

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend required staff meetings and mandatory in-services
  • Report to work on time and follows procedures for reporting absences
  • Report all accidents immediately and provide effective timely corrective action on all accidents
  • Will adhere to all safety policies and safe work practice
  • Will adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Exhibit Service Excellence and support facility internal and external customer service standards 
 
Requirements

Registered Nurse License – must be active and in good standing
