Parkwood Behavioral Health System has provided behavioral health and chemical dependency services to the Mid-South region since 1987. We are located in DeSoto County, in the uppermost northwest corner of Mississippi and approximately 7 miles south of Memphis. Parkwood Behavioral Health System includes a 148-bed inpatient acute and residential care facility, as well as partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

Registered Nurse Needs Assessor

Parkwood is currently seeking a Registered Nurse Needs Assessor, to work as needed, to provide telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. The Registered Nurse Needs Assessor assists by providing face to face nursing clinical assessments, including the history and presentation of psychiatric and medical illnesses, family dynamics and supporting psychosocial information as a secondary duty.

Job Requirements

Experience: Preferred 1 year of prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in a crisis and/or inpatient setting.

Knowledge: Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training.

Supervision Received: Director of Assessment and Referral

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred
