Job Description

Poplar Springs Hospital, a 183 bed acute care and residential facility, is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calmness and peace. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, sexually abusive youth services, as well as programs for active duty military.

The candidate selected will be responsible and accountable for:

  • Ensuring the provision of quality nursing care to assigned groups of patients/residents through utilization of the nursing process, established standards of care, and relevant organizational/departmental/unit policies and procedures.
  • Immediate supervision and coaching/mentoring of assistive personnel in the performance of delegated direct/indirect nursing care activities and unit maintenance task.
  • Demonstrates behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of PSH as well as those expected of all nurses functioning at a competent level of practice in the professional role (1998 ANA “Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice”).
Job Requirements
  • Licensed to practice as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Must have graduated from an approved school of professional nursing.
  • Education, experience and/or training in working with patient population of unit of assignment is required.
  • Working knowledge of JC, OSHA and State and Federal Regulation
