Texas NeuroRehab Center (TNC) provides complex medical and brain injury rehab, chemical dependency treatment for adults and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges.

Texas NeuroRehab Center is currently accepting applications for a Rehabilitation Technician (Rehab Tech).

A Rehab Tech assists in the direct care and management of patients across all age ranges with medical and behavioral issues as directed by the treatment team. Rehab Techs provide assistance with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, and activities of daily living within the functional ability of patients and with consideration for the patient’s level of growth and development.

The candidate selected will be responsible for the following:
Accompanies and actively supervises patients in activities of daily living (ADLs), appointments, and recreational activities that occur both on and off the living unit.
Actively assists therapists and teachers with patients to provide therapeutic and/or educational activities.
Documents patient behaviors, condition, and progress on a daily basis by recording data in the prescribed format.
Provides hands-on physical care, supervision, crisis intervention, behavior management, and behavior modification as directed by the individual treatment plan and unit program guidelines.

Job Requirements

Education and Training: High School diploma or equivalent Prefer bachelor’s degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development

Licensure and/or Certification: Current CPR certification Current in all required training

Experience: No minimum required Prefer one year’s experience as a nurse’s aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting

Physical/General: Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift. Physically restrain patients per policy by individual or team restraint. Lift, carry, and lower 50 pounds without assistance. Push patients in wheelchairs up and down hills and pursue running patients. Transfer patients to and from beds, toilets, automobiles, and wheelchairs. Confront a dangerous and aggressive patient. Verbally communicate to deescalate a crisis situation. Accurately convey patient behavior and status, both verbally and in writing. Visually observe patient behavior and act to protect self and others from aggressive patients or accidents. Write legibly and grammatically to convey patient behavior and information in the chart. Assist in patient care from prompting up to total care in patient hygiene (i.e., bathing, diapering, dressing, etc.). Eat with and feed patients following diet orders and speech therapy program. Attend work regularly, on time, and as scheduled, according to facility policies. Hear and see sufficiently to perform essential job functions. Flexibly and maturely deal with changing priorities.
