Job Description

Cedar Hills Hospital - located just 15 minutes from downtown Portland - is an 89-bed, free-standing psychiatric hospital specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care. We provide a wide range of services and programs that offer evidence-based treatment proven to have positive outcomes for our patients. Our inpatient and outpatient services offer supportive and compassionate care through specialty programs that are tailored to meet the needs of our patients.

The Release of Information Specialist supports the facility by responding to requests for patient information and confirms authorizations for such requests. Key emphasis is placed on following all requirements of State and Federal regulations related to PH&S HIPAA compliance policies and proceduresHe/she demonstrates high level of administrative ability in this position and will also be responsible for any other duties assigned by the Program Manager of Health Information Management to interface with internal and external personnel and clients.

May require additional overtime and weekends.

Job Requirements

 

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ExperienceA minimum of one (1) years’ experience, with knowledge of medical records coding and medical terminology, and an understanding of the clinical information environment.
  • Training: Successful completion of Crisis Management and Service Excellence training must occur within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in any restraining procedures. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
  •  Additional Requirements Preferred:  Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of computer proficiency and word processing:  One year experience in health information and/or combination of related college level course work may count towards experience.  Knowledge of general hospital operations as well as office routines. ICD-10 coding experience preferred. Registered Health Information Tech preferred.
