In a compassionate, fine-tuned approach, we treat the whole person. FRN is currently seeking a Nursing Certified Residential Counselor, dedicated to patient-centered compassionate care, responsible to assess patient needs, monitor medications, administer and track TB skin tests, monitor random drug screens, and provide counseling and milieu management within the residential environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to inspire our patients’ confidence in both our staff and the FRN Model of Treatment. Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Completes assessment of new patients immediately upon admission, according to level of care procedures
• Monitors self-medication process for individuals living in residential facilities
• Provides on-going consumer education (group and individual) regarding medications
• Provides on-going staff training regarding medication policies and procedures
• Implements and monitors procedures for random urine drug screens to ensure that each individual is
screened as appropriate; completes process to ensure results are documented in medical file and with the individual’s clinician
• Performs responsibilities according to clinical and timeliness guidelines, and assimilates and applies
performance feedback as directed by management personnel
• Meets quality expectations of accuracy, completeness, and is responsive to feedback
• Meets quantity expectations of volume consistent with peers and relative to time in position
• Meets timeliness expectations of completing work as scheduled, demonstrating self-paced performance and adjusting priorities as needed
• Professionally relates to consumers and peers at all times
• Participates in weekly staff and clinical meetings
• Cross-trains and supports other divisions as needed or requested by supervisor
• Self-directed to provide support to colleagues as workflow allows


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of models and theories of addiction, mental illness, and related issues
• Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies, and outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care for dually diagnosed populations
• Understanding of diagnostic criteria for dual conditions and ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care
• Understanding of diverse cultures and gender specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice setting
• Good organizational skills; ability to prioritize workload and work independently
• If in recovery, must have a minimum of two years abstinence
• Must comply with drug-free workplace guidelines


Education / Experience
• Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse
• Five years’ experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule
