Sodexo Government Services has a fantastic opportunity for a highly passionate, experienced, organized, and disciplined individual with a strong commitment to food operations to join our team at The United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC as a Food Retail Manager 2.


The Ford Cafeteria is a small, four-concept food service operation with a newly renovated, unmanned, branded, self-checkout Convenience Store called “Twelve”.  Twelve generates approximately $1M per year in revenue and has 10 frontline/hourly (Sodexo, union) employees.   The Twelve store operational hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM until 4 PM.



The ideal candidate for this position will have a solid food quality and customer service background with a strong understanding of all aspects of retail food operation that includes branded concepts, in-house formats and signature designs to ensure client satisfaction and retention.



The Food Retail Manager 2 responsibilities include maintaining food quality and customer service standards in a cash handling retail food operation that includes branded concepts, in-house formats and signature designs.  Assist in maintenance of cash control and payroll records along with maintaining high guest satisfaction and good public relations. Staff training to include customer service, sanitation, and safe food handling. Monitoring and ensuring HACCP procedures are followed.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous Food Retail management experience, preferably overseeing multiple high volume retail venues
  • Strong team building and employee engagement skills
  • Has history and knowledge of working in a Union environment
  • Experience using, training and managing a Point of Sale system, cash handling
  • Strong hospitality focus - be engaged and interactive with all our clients and employees
  • A Driven - self-starter relying upon themselves to "make it happen" as well as be part of a team
  • Knowledge of excel, word, POS, scheduling, food costing is ideal


Position Summary

Responsible for food quality & customer service in an operation that may have branded concepts or other retail offerings. Directs the work of hourly & supervisory food service workers.
Key Duties
- Ensures there is a zero harm mindset for ourselves, our customers, our food & employees.
- Directs daily operations of food quality & customer service in a retail food operation that may include branded concepts ensuring that employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources.
- Manages cash handling protocols & control procedures according to Sodexo policies.
- Maintains client satisfaction for food quality & customer service.
- Accountable for the execution of service quality by maintaining the highest level of delivery.
- Supervises day-to-day work activities of food service workers. 



Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
Basic Management Experience - 1 year
