North Spring Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. is an 87-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for children 9 to 17 and 15-bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital for children 7 to 17. In addition we offer a Partial Hospitalization Program and Intensive Outpatient Services for children and adolescents. All services are licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and Joint Commission accredited.   We additionally have capacity expansions planned for completion over the next 12 months due to the high demand for our services.  Our strategic plan has been centered on improving fidelity to our evidence-based clinical methodology.

North Spring is currently recruiting for a Director of Risk Management to join our senior management team. This position involves overseeing and coordinating quality improvement and risk management, medical records, HIPAA Privacy and security activities. Responsible for interpreting and communicating regulations and standards of accrediting bodies and other regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with same. Maintains up-to-date knowledge and professional competence of quality/performance improvement. This position is responsible for ensuring institutional compliance with the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Tricare and Joint Commission.

Key Responsibilities:     

  1. Oversees and coordinates the development, implementation and reporting of all data obtained throughout the facility on performance assessment and improvement activities. Works with appropriate clinical and support departments in determining cause to variations from established expectancies and oversees performance improvement teams or activities to implement positive change within the organization.

  2. Maintains an accurate database for incident reporting and outcomes/performance improvement activities and compiles reports for specific programs and as requested by Administration, Marketing and referral agencies.

  3. Oversees Facility functions and reporting for compliance with accreditation standards of above referenced agencies and coordinates preparation for surveys and writes follow-up reports.

  4. Organizes and facilitates Quality Council, Patient Safety and Performance Improvement Committee activities.

  5. Serves as facility Privacy Officer and as the process owner for all ongoing activities that serve to provide appropriate access to and protect the confidentially and integrity of patient, provider, employee, and business information in compliance with organization policies and standards.

Compensation package:

Job Requirements


Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in human services is preferred.

  2. Prefer a minimum of four years experience coordinating performance improvement activities and accrediting bodies’ surveys.

  3. Must have strong computer skills, especially Excel.

  4. Position is subject to criminal background investigation and pre-employment drug screen.

  5. Must be at least 21 years old.
