Henderson Hospital is a member of The Valley Health System, a network of six acute care hospitals that provide care for patients throughout Southern Nevada and nearby communities. Located in the suburb of Henderson, the 120-bed hospital, which opened in 2016, offers emergency care, surgical services, including an ambulatory surgery center, cardiovascular care, women’s health and maternity services. A level II neonatal intensive care unit is slated to open by late 2017.


Job Description

Acts as a liaison between patients and/or patients’ families and the hospital; responsible for receiving, investigating and responding to patient questions, concerns or complaints. Responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Risk Management plan. Reviews and analyzes risk management data and assists Risk Manager with developing and implementing plans to reduce risk and liability.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

 Essential Job Duties:

Performs responsibilities consistent with hospital safety policies.

Analyzes incident reports and utilizes the MIDAS database for incident tracking, trending, and reporting.    

Assists as directed, with the timely completion, submission and accurate leveling of incidents.       

Investigates incidents as directed, in conjunction, with UHS Corporate Guidelines.

Communicates in a timely manner any significant occurrence by accurately completing Probable Claim Reports (PCR), and submitting to corporate within 10 business days.             

Participate as directed in claims and litigation of alleged medical malpractice and general liability issues.          

Responds timely and appropriately to patient complaints and concerns from the Patient Advocate, Supervisors, Patients or Families.      

Refers issues as appropriate to the Risk Manager and / or Performance Improvement so as to minimize organizational liability and enhance quality of care.      

Trends risk data and responds or refers as appropriate to minimize liability.           

Reviews and analyzes risk and incident report data and coordinates plans to minimize and improve quality of care.          

Assists with the reviewing, routing, and monitoring of non – physician contracts as appropriate to facility.         

Serves as a resource for Administration, facility staff, and medical staff by articulating the UHS Risk Management Program.   

Identifies undesirable patterns and trends in performance and facilitate the development of action plans to resolve issues in a timely manner.           

Actively participates in Root Cause Analysis ensuring that risk reduction strategies are completed in a timely manner.  

Provides training to managers and staff regarding positive responses to negative situations and appropriate management of complaints and adverse outcomes. 

Participates in regulatory survey.         

Attends as directed to key facility meetings such as, but not limited to, PI, MEC, Policy and Procedures, P & T, and EOC.   

Assists Risk Manager as needed.

Understands Risk Management plan.

Collects and analyzes data.     

Completes work with little or no supervision.   

Meets agreed upon deadlines or negotiates due date revisions prior to deadline.  

Ensures efficient utilization of resources.           

Coordinates activities within set standards.      

Maintains operating expenses within set standards.       

Functions as an active member of committees, as needed.           

Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations to the department, facility.

Effectively communicates both orally and in writing.      

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

Education: Baccalaureate Degree required, BSN preferred                                                                                                                                             

Experience: Two years acute care hospital experience                                                                                                                                                    

Technical Skills: Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point                                                                                                                                                    

License/Certification: Current RN license in the state of Nevada if Registered Nurse.                                                                                                                                               

Other: Must have working knowledge of healthcare industry.
