Job Description

The Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta (LCCA) is a multi-discipline behavioral healthcare center that offers mental health services to the communities of surrounding Augusta, Georgia. The Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta is an acute and residential treatment facility providing balanced, top-notch clinical care. We provide a carefully-structured yet supportive environment. Our education program is accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission.

Currently we have exciting opportunities for Registered Nurses here at LCCA.  We are seeking a dynamic RN to fill our second (12 hour) shift.

Lighthouse Care Center of Augusta is a 68-bed facility located in the heart of Augusta, Georgia. We provide inpatient and outpatient services to children and adolescents who have been placed for mental health and/or psychiatric disorders. Our acute and residential care setting accepts children ages 5-17.

The LCCA RN's purpose  is to deliver quality direct care of patients 5-17 years of age under appropriate clinical supervision, to adolescents with psychiatric disorders admitted to the acute, residential or PHP unit; to provide safety, supervision and crisis management to the population; to provide assessment and medical management of population and to support the management of a therapeutic milieu.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 21 years of age; Associates, Bachelors or higher  (degree) in nursing,  Current, valid State of GA RN license in good standing;  good oral and written communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to maintain information as highly confidential; telephone etiquette and customer service skills by phone and face-to-face; familiarity with medical and psychological terminology preferred; skills in dealing courteously with the public and other staff within the facility; basic knowledge of human behavior or principles of psychology useful; skills in prioritizing and in managing time; problem-solving skills; use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients; empathy toward patients; skills in teaching or assisting with activities of daily living helpful.  Prefer one (1) year psychiatric experience with children or adolescents in an acute hospital or residential setting.

Valid Georgia driver’s license with no suspensions or tickets for major traffic violations for at least three years.

Ability to initiate and implement all phases of nursing care, ability to provide safe nursing care, has understanding of patient rights

Stress management skills

Crisis management skills, basic teaching or training skills preferred

Ability to understand and apply applicable standards and regulations (e.g. Joint Commission, licensing and regulatory standards). 

Certifications:  Must possess a current, unexpired AHA CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain during first week of employment. In addition must be willing to obtain certification in Therapeutic Restraints and Verbal De-escalation techniques.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Vision and hearing must be correctable to fall within normal range.

Must be able to verbally communicate with residents, other employees and visitors

Requires fine manipulation with both hands (IM injections, medication administration for eg.)

Requires full range of body motion including handling and physical management of residents; ability to perform therapeutic restraint training.

80 – 90% of the time, employee must be able to stand, walk, kneel and reach while working with residents.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to perform CPR/First Aid

Must be emotionally stable to perform the key responsibilities of the position

 

OTHER CRITERIA

Candidates must submit to and successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check (both local and federal), urine drug screen, and professional/pre-employment references. In addition, candidates must provide evidence of pre-employment fit for duty physical post offer and acceptance.  A list of providers will be included, candidates absorb costs of physical.  

Candidate MUST be willing to work as needed between Residential and Acute units.  Agreement to work weekends/holidays as determined by employee and scheduler.  Position is for 2nd shift , (12 hours) 6:45 pm – 7:15 am
