Job Description

Liberty Point Behavioral Healthcare, LLC is nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and thrives in the hometown environment of Staunton, VA. We are a residential treatment facility for adolescent males, ages 13 - 22, with intellectual deficits and psychiatric disorders. In addition to the residential treatment center, we operate a group home for residents in order to provide transitional and independent development skills. Residents enjoy opportunities to interact with the Staunton Community through outings, community service, theaters, parks and recreation on an ongoing basis. The primary focus is on encouraging constructive change and personal growth, learning positive ways to get appropriate attention, improving behavior choices, developing a sense of responsibility for actions, learning problem-solving skills, and developing thinking patterns that support positive relationships. The position of Registered Nurse provides a full range of nursing care for our residents.

The incumbent is responsible for:

  • Planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of nursing care for assigned residents
  • Ensuring nursing services are provided in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care and the Interdisciplinary Plan of Treatment
  • Nursing care based on the nursing process and in compliance with facility policies and procedures
  • Monitoring, reporting, and documenting the residents’ behavior and physiological status
  • Administering medications and performs treatments/procedures in compliance with facility and nursing services, policies, and procedures
  • Guiding the response to residents who are behaviorally out of control or who may be experiencing a medical or behavioral crisis in collaboration with the nurse manager and physician
  • Reporting accurately and concisely to oncoming shifts regarding conditions of residents
Job Requirements

Successful candidates must also be able to:

  • Carry up to 50 pounds 80-90% of the time
  • Stand, walk, kneel, reach while working with residents
  • Utilize full range of body motion including handling and physical restraint of residents
  • Perform CPR and First Aid
  • Have good verbal and written skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • Must consistently exhibit mental and emotional ability to understand and perform the essential functions of the job
  • Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia
  • Experience with children and adolescents in psychiatric facility or rehabilitation program and a med-surg background preferred
  • Schedule: Sunday and Thursday 10:30pm-6:30am with a possibility of picking up additional shifts
