POSITION SUMMARY:  The RN prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members and in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.  Supervisory responsibilities for Mental Health Technicians (MHT)/Certified Nursing Assistants.

Mesilla Valley Hospital (UHS facility) is a free-standing psychiatric hospital in Las Cruces, New Mexico that provides mental health and drug & alcohol addiction services for adolescents, adults, and seniors.  Mesilla Valley Hospital has been in operation since 1987, serving those in need of treatment for a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse issues.  Mesilla Valley Hospital is a 120-bed facility, providing access to quality behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas and Arizona.

 

Job Requirements

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:  Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  A minimum of two years experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health care facility is preferred.  Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing in New Mexico (or a compact state license that includes the State of New Mexico).    

SKILLS:  Knowledge of psychiatric and medical nursing procedures is essential.
