Position Summary:

Reports to the Practice Administrator/Manager, Device Nurse must assume responsibility for interrogation and troubleshooting of pacemaker/internal cardiac defibrillator (ICD)/Loop recorder devices in the office as well as downloading information from remote patient locations.  A high level of decision making and autonomy is critical.  They must be able to recognize abnormalities in recordings and be responsible for presenting telemetry strips to appropriate physician.  They must have experience with diagnosing various arrhythmias (VT, SVT, SSS, and AF).

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Inspect wound healing.
  • Perform pacemaker/Internal Cardiac Defibrillator/Loop recorder interrogations (in office and remote patient locations).
  • Take triage calls when asked and respond appropriately to the situation.
  • Review remote follow-up reports and report abnormalities to appropriate physician.
  • Perform administrative and clinical duties related to research studies.
  • Retrieve operative reports and patient information to compose office “device charts.”
  • Compose Data Base summary of office visit for Electrophysiologist to review.
  • Provide patient education in the form of didactic, handout and hands-on experience of remote telemetry downloads.
  • Insure that copies of final interrogations are sent to the patient’s cardiologist and PCP.
  • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
  • Traveling is required between assigned facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned by Physicians, Clinical Supervisor or Practice Manager/Administrator.
Job Requirements

Qualifications & Specifications:

< > – Graduate of an accredited Nursing program required.Licenses & Certifications – Current Nursing license from State of Texas.
Experience – Minimum of two years of experience as a cardiac associated professional.

Experience with cardiology arrhythmia setting is strongly preferred.

Excellent computer skills.

Impeccable verbal, written, and interpersonal skills

Strong attention to detail

Essential Physical Requirements – Requires sitting and standing associated with a healthcare setting.
Working Conditions – Normal medical office environment.  Occasional evening and weekend work required.
