Austin Lakes Hospital, a 58-bed psychiatric acute care hospital located in beautiful and vibrant Austin, TX has a Infection Control Nurse, part-time opportunity. Austin Lakes Hospital offers a continuum of psychiatric services for adults 18 and up with acute mental health needs in a confidential, caring environment that promotes crisis resolution, positive self-awareness, personal growth and problem solving skills. The cornerstone of our treatment rests on exceptional mental health services and clinical excellence. Our continuum of care includes inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety and other behavioral health disorders. Reports to Chief Nursing Officer.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate infection control, prevention, and surveillance programs as approved by the Infection Control Committee.

  • Works in conjunction with CNO, physicians and nurses to assure compliance with the Texas Department of State Health Services standards, OSHA requirements, JC standards.

  • Track employee illness for infection control purposes.

  • Assess patient care and need for consultation.

  • Assist HR Director with administration of the Occupational Health/Work Injury Program.

  • Monitor the Employee immunization program.

  • Provide wellness information / programs for employees.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Management skills with the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.

  • Knowledge of nursing practices, infection control techniques, TDSHS standards, employee health needs, and basic OSHA rules.

  • Able to prioritize needs so that all will be met in a timely manner.


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.  Documented evidence of Infection Control training.

License / Certification:

  • RN in Texas with certification in Infection Control


  • IC experience in a hospital setting, preferably in behavioral health.
