Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Department Director, the Registered Nurse is responsible to provide, delegate, and coordinate nursing care provided at PRMC, and is guided by the policies and procedures of the hospital. The R.N. utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect nursing care of the patient. Contributes to nursing and the Hospital through support of philosophy, vision, objectives, educational and recertification efforts. Accountable to assure that HCAHPS, patient and physician scores fall within acceptable ranges by providing service excellence. Responsible to follow all National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measure Initiatives to ensure compliance falls within acceptable ranges. Population served includes – patients, family members, other visitors, physicians, nursing team and other Hospital disciplines. Appropriately follows the chain of command. II. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: ALL REGISTERED NURSES A. To assure that the highest quality nursing care is delivered to the patient in a timely and cost effective manner. B. To help return the patient to a state of optimal wellness or to a state in which the highest quality of life can be maintained. C. To collaborate with other members of the health care delivery team, including physicians, to deliver quality health care. D. Is able to alternate patient care plans and own assignment in a changing, fast-paced environment. Communicates verbally and in writing in a consistent, positive manner. E. Performs a hand-off communications when patient transfers and during shift report using SBar Tools. F. Functions as charge nurse as requested.
 
Requirements
A. Work Experience – • Specialty units (ARU) preferred one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting. B. Education -- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred). C. License, Certification, or Registration Required -- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California. Current BLS for healthcare providers. Current ACLS. Additional specialty certifications required for: • REHAB UNIT – CRRN (If not certified at time of employment, certification must be obtained within completion of 2 years as a rehab RN) • D. Language Skills – Must possess ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, families and the general public in a positive manner. E. Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. F. Reasoning Ability – Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Follows the nursing plan of care and initiate changes, need critical thinking skills. G. Special Qualifications – Able to function effectively in a busy, fast-paced environment. Must be capable of making decisions under pressure and managing anger, fear, hostility and violence of others appropriately. E. On Call responsibility is a requirement of this job.
