The Registered Nurse functions under the supervision of the Charge Nurse. The RN assures provision of family centered care to an assigned patient population in a professional manner, utilizing the nursing process and the principles of continuous quality improvement in collaboration with other health team members.  The Registered Nurse supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.

1.      Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

2.      Current license or permit to practice nursing in the State of Texas

3.      Possess current BLS certification upon hire and maintain certification throughout employment

4.      ACLS completion within three (3) months after hire or promotion

5.      CCRN preferred

6.      TNCC preferred for Surgical ICU

7.      Cardiovascular certification preferred for CCU

8.      Must pass EKG, Blood Gas Analysis and Basic Knowledge Assessment Test (BKAT) with a score of 85% upon completion of didactic/computer orientation program – employee will have two chances to pass exams with remediation material available. **Experienced critical care nurses may test out of didactic/computer orientation with a score of 85% on the Blood Gas Analysis and BKAT exam.

9.      100% score on medication test – employee will have two chances to pass exam with remediation material available

10.  Satisfactory return demonstration of competencies required for critical care specific processes and equipment.

            **Employment is dependent on passing above exams and competencies.
