Schick Shadel Hospital,  is seeking a talented Registered Nurse (RN).  Schick Shadel Hospital, a 60 bed alcohol and substance use disorder hospital located in the outskirts of Seattle, has been providing successful chemical dependency treatment since 1935.  The hospital, which claims the "#1 Success Rate" in treating alcoholism, bases its success on its unique and powerful counter conditioning treatment program.  The hospital provides medication detoxification and an intense, short stay addiction treatment program for alcohol, marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription opioids and heroin (smoked and snorted).

The Registered Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices.

Job Requirements

Job Responsibilities: 

  1. Receives report from previous shifts and identifies special needs of assigned patients.
  2. Prioritizes nursing care according to patient needs.
  3. Performs nursing activities which promote the physical, mental and emotional well being of the patient.
  4. Orders medication as prescribed by physician.
  5. Performs nursing assessment on all new patients.
  6. Recognizes and interprets symptoms and when appropriate reports patient’s condition to the Director of Nursing.
  7. Performs a nursing summary on patients just prior to discharge.
  8. Keeps accurate and complete records of nursing care.
  9. When appropriate, participates in orientation of new nursing personnel.
  10. Assists in interpreting policies and procedures to patients and their families.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse.
  12. Responds to codes as part of a team of designated nursing personnel.
  13. Participates in annual hospital mandated inservices and required education, training and competencies. 

 

Education/Experience

  • Education: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required.  Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in substance use disorder facility, detoxification facility or psychiatric facility preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years’ nursing experience in a hospital setting required.   
  • Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Current CPR certification.
