RVP Client Mgt - UHC Global (East and West) (748259)

Position Description

The primary purpose of this role is to manage a regional book of business for UHC Global and be responsible for growth, retention, and profitability.   
 
The position includes general management responsibilities for the region along with leading key initiatives that serve to develop and execute upon the business strategy for UHC Global, as well as ongoing management reporting.  The position includes managing a team of client management staff providing coaching and training with respect to consultative selling, effective client management, and client retention strategies.     
 

We have two positions available, one based in the West (Houston, Los Angeles, Orange County, CA, San Francisco are preferred locations) and one in the East (Tampa, Hartford, Maryland, NYC, Chicago, Minneapolis are preferred locations).  These locations are strongly preferred but the option to office in one of our primary UHC Global locations not listed is available as well.

 

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Establishes and maintains strong professional and personal relationships with customers and consultants presenting a positive image of  UHCG
  • Develops relationships with senior level contacts at select clients and consulting houses within the region
  • Delivers growth and ensures retention of  the regional book of business, across full spectrum of products and services (e.g., insurance, assistance, risk, travel, medical, etc.)
  • Collaborates with UHC Domestic and Optum leadership within the region, as appropriate
  • Manages NPS client scores across the book addressing detractors,  passives and promoters; actively manages the detractor remediation process
  • Drives adoption of innovation across the book
  • Partners with Sales leaders for consultant engagements in hi-prevalence markets
  • Actively participates in MBRs and pipeline calls and supports other management reporting requirements
  • Plans and leads regional client events
  • Attends local market events, as appropriate
  • Maintains a deep understanding of all UHG products and services
  • Provides feedback to management on market trends and improvement opportunities as presented by clients and consultants
  • Develops and maintains internal UHG network
  • Demonstrates market and technical expertise through client, broker and consultant meetings
  • Assists in bringing escalated client issues to resolution
  • Assists with managing relationships with external vendors in support of clients initiatives and programs
  • Ensures timely and accurate  data in  client databases and sales tools on a timely basis (e.g., SFDC)
  • Assist team with managing accounts receivables and partners effectively with finance
  • Assists with RFPs, renewals and negotiations
  • Removes barriers and obstacles for client staff to address client situations
  • Drives client participation to 100% completion of annual customer satisfaction survey (NPS)
  • Communicates UHG value and differentiation on a consistent basis
  • Maintains high level of industry knowledge
  • Demonstrates support of company-wide programs and initiatives
  • Drives collaboration with departments within and outside UHCG
  • Collaborates with other RVP in execution for client management
  • Executes on Team Vital Signs initiatives
  • Assists in coordinating social responsibility activities
  • Guides client management staff in managing their books of business to deliver upon growth, retention and profitability goals for the overall book of business
  • Provides support and direction to client management staff relative to developing and executing on the client specific business plans; ensure consistent use of EBD and other client management planning tools
  • Recruits, hires and manages performance of staff providing ongoing feedback, conducting regularly scheduled 1:1s and facilitating MAP process in a timely manner
  • Reviews job descriptions and MAP goals with each direct report
  • Leads weekly staff calls
  • Motivates and inspires others to meet their goals
  • Participates in personal development (MAP self-assessment, training, etc.)
  • Attends and participates in one-on-ones with manager
  • Actively participates in leadership meeting
Required Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of sales or account management experience in the medical benefits insurance industry
  • Minimum of 3 years of formal leadership experience managing a client mgt team in the medical benefits industry 
  • At least 7 years in a client facing role in the insurance industry
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and planning
  • Excellent relationship management skills, comfortable engaging with high level executives at client organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong ability to negotiate and influence
  • Solid understanding of business financial acumen
  • Life/Health License

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • College degree, preferred
  • Solid understanding of  UHG products and services
  • Experience selling or managing global or ex pat medical benefits strongly preferred.
