This State & Local and Education Business Development Manager is the face of Cisco SLED East to our Partners and Internal customers. They work with the BDMs, PAMs and partners to drive pipeline and investment in the SLED segment.   By working closely and assimilating into Cisco extended teams this individual will drive awareness of the large opportunity in SLED and how to develop a business strategy to capture SLED success.

They have first hand knowledge of the SLED vertical and can articulate the value of technology to a City/county/state or educational customer.  They accomplish this through one-on-one coaching; team meetings and informative presentations so the partner and extended teams become more comfortable and confident in positioning Cisco and talking to non-IT decision makers. Must be a creative, consensus builder that can work cross functionally to leverage extended teams to drive SLED partner success.


·         Enable Internal teams and Partner reps to sell understand and focus on SLED vertical opportunities

  • Develop partner strategy to drive SLED solutions using experience and understanding of a City/county/state and Education budgeting and needs of SLED government customers, ie DPW, Police, Fire, HR, Schools etc.
  • Submit periodic reports on the state of the business
  • Conduct trainings for reps on SLED Solutions and promotions
  • Increase overall SLED solution awareness and mindshare for Cisco through consistent contact with partners and extended teams
  • Provide SLED Solutions information and messaging to teams in order to drive new innovation in SLED vertical
  • Work with reps to uncover new opportunities, closing business and increasing pipeline


                Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred

Experience Required        

  • 5 years of successful SLED sales and or partnering
  • Understanding of IT and the impact on SLED
  • Oversaw and developed SLED GTM strategies
  • Excellent presentation and training skills
  • Computer hardware networking experience preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, etc.)
  • Strong Communicator

  • SLED passion


  • Self-starter who is working towards learning Cisco SLED product and business strategies, and help create the demand to close deals with the GovEd partners
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently is required

  • Works minimal supervision and proactively build creative approach to build SLED focus and success
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
