What You'll Do:

The ideal candidate will be self-driven, independent, have the ability to juggle multiple customer engagements at different stages, and have a deep understanding of software and application platforms. This role will work with established Cisco Account Managers, Systems Engineers, Software Executives, Platform Specialists, and Partners to engage with customers in order to navigate any barriers to success. Cisco is continuing to evolve how we create value for our customers; the adoption specialist will focus on providing business value desired from our solutions, specifically with solutions already purchased.  This role will focus on progressing Cisco software penetration, and future recurring revenue.

Duties will include:

  • Documenting Best Practices
  • Tracking and recording metrics of the program
  • Engagement with Cisco Business Units to provide input on product and feature requirements for improvements
  • Engagement with Cisco Advanced Services to drive services revenue and proper adoption practices
  • Engagement with Partner Lifecycle Advisor Program Leaders, as well as typical services personnel in order to ensure proper adoption practices
  • Educating the field on selling software and the new continuous sales model
  • Working with customers towards understanding the value of their Cisco purchased assets
  • Travel up to 40-50%

 Who You'll Work With:

This position is a sales engineering role responsible for driving discussions and activities that lead to the purchase and deployment of Cisco Software Offerings for Security, and Enterprise Networking, via ELA and Cisco One suites. Many solutions in Cisco’s Software Offerings are still new to customers in this market.

Who You Are:

Required Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science or information technology, plus 10-15 years IT related experience with working experience to highly dynamic, motivated and cross functional team(s)
  • Have presales and post sales experience, as well as the ability to communicate / present to multiple levels
  • Provide leadership, education and training as it pertains to Cisco Software Solutions
  • Should have hands-on experience in at least one of the following areas, experience with multiple a definite plus:
  • Cisco Security Portfolio
  • Enterprise Networking, focused around Digital Network Architecture

Key Domain expertise:

  • Understanding of Cisco software solutions, including overall automation, overlays, end-to-end microservices, and proper security integration
  • Broad technical knowledge of Cisco solutions in Security, Data Center and Enterprise Networking, with preferred deep knowledge in the Security Platform
  • Programmatic methods to provision, manage, and control infrastructure services
  • Networking: OSI Layer 2 (Spanning tree, vPC, EtherChannel, VLAN, etc), Layer 3 switching /routing (OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, IPv4/6), DNS/DHCP WAN/ISP, network virtualization (N1kv, VRF), basics of higher layer protocols: SSL/TLS, HTTP, real-time traffic (voice/video), NFS, database access protocols
  • Compute technologies: x86, hypervisor (Openstack/KVM), OS (Linux/Windows), workload mobility
  • Programmatic control of infrastructure elements (data model, API), integration frameworks and technologies
  • Cisco’s Switching Product Lines: Nexus and Catalyst
  • Unified Compute System (UCS)
  • Cisco’s APIC and APIC-EM
  • Clear understanding of L4-L7 Services with ACI, and integration with overall security
  • Network/Infrastructure Security technologies (Firewall, access control, intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, administrative access control)
  • OSS / BSS, including: Network Management Systems, Service Delivery, Service Fulfillment (including the network inventory, activation and provisioning), Service Assurance, and Customer Care

Consulting Skills:

  • Passionate, persuasive, charismatic thought leader capable of quickly establishing executive interest in current and future Cisco solutions
  • Experience in large Enterprise environments providing application accessibility, performance and overall technology security through a marriage of hardware and software solutions
  • Understands and can articulate the value and business advantage of a holistic, cross-platform, policy driven architecture through the proper use of software
  • Strong customer-facing sales and architectural skills

Non-Technical Requirements:

  • Understanding of Cisco purchasing programs (ELA, Cisco One, etc.), differences, and value of each
  • Core expertise to include design concepts, IT analysis/analytical thinking, innovation management, enterprise perspective and process knowledge
