Job Description

School-Based Child and Family Therapist needed to provide individual, group and family therapy in an urban school-based setting in the Billerica area.

License preferred, two years’ experience working with youth in high-risk situations required. Elementary, Middle and High School positions available. Highly collaborative program, with great supervision and support.


School-based Programs (Per-Diem)

For nearly 20 years, Arbour Counseling Services has offered a clinical program designed to provide behavioral health services to students. This program is administered within the school setting during school hours by Arbour therapists working closely with designated school staff.

The services are provided to pre-school through 12th grade students in school systems within the catchment areas of the Arbour Counseling Services sites, all located in Eastern Massachusetts. Students may be referred for evaluation by their parents, teachers, guidance counselors, or by the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families.

Program components include psychological, neuropsychological and educational testing and evaluations; individual and group therapy, including specialized groups; on-going consultations with parents and school personnel, and clinical consultation to teachers, aides, school psychologists and guidance counselors. Arbour Counseling Services also offers in-service training to administrators, teachers, special-needs staff and support personnel on topics requested by school staff.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Meet with children at their respective schools
  • Provide intake and diagnostic assessments for new clients
  • Develop treatment plans in accordance with regulations and agency policy
  • Provide individual counseling
  • Collaboration with collateral contacts and other providers
  • Collaborate with onsite adjustments and guidance counselors
  • Complete documentation as required
  • Opportunity to combine working in the schools and the outpatient clinic
Job Requirements


  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology
  • Must be licensed: LICSW, LMHC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologists
  • At least one year of experience working with children and adolescents
  • Must CANS certified
