Job Details

The Cellular and Molecular Biologist will be responsible for ensuring the advancement of innovative drug discovery programs from the discovery to the development stage by designing and executing experiments to characterize the biological function of targets and the effect of drug candidates on target function and its molecular pathways.







The candidate will be an essential member of the CTI-New York Group. He or she will be able to work independently and creatively to design and execute key experiments to address the basic and translational biology of novel drug targets, their molecular pathways, and their connection to human disease. The candidate will be expected to support projects in one or more therapeutic areas of interest to Pfizer including Immunology, Oncology, Immuno-Oncology, and others.







The candidate will perform in vitro studies utilizing molecular, biochemical, and cellular techniques to understand the drug target's role in disease biology and to validate the activity of candidate drugs. The qualified candidate will be an individual contributor to highly matrixed multidisciplinary teams collaborating closely with CTI colleagues, academic partners, and various Pfizer R&D partner-lines to ensure seamless and efficient advancement of projects to meet aggressive project deliverables, goals, and timelines.







A key responsibility of this candidate will be the evaluation, characterization, and validation of drug candidates in the appropriate cellular, biochemical, and functional assays designed and developed by the incumbent. The applicant will be required to work on multiple independent projects, simultaneously supporting multiple therapeutic development project teams. She or he will be expected to present results, updates, and recommendations at regular project team meetings. The candidate will be expected to fully embrace and embody the entrepreneurial spirit and biotech-like culture, values, and goals of CTI and contribute to creating and exciting, productive, collaborative, and scientifically rigorous working environment.







**QUALIFICATIONS**







+ BS/MS in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field with 5 or more years of experience conducting laboratory research



+ Industry experience preferred



+ Experience in one or more of the therapeutic areas of interest to Pfizer including, but not limited to, Immunology, Oncology, and Immuno-Oncology



+ Experience with the drug development process is desirable



+ Ability to succeed in a small, interactive, non-traditional drug-discovery environment
