**ROLE SUMMARY**



Candidate will be responsible for providing microbiology, molecular biology and exploratory assay support for preclinical vaccine programs targeting microbial pathogens. Goal will be to evaluate the expression of native and recombinant antigens, and to characterize elicited immune responses using a variety of cell and antibody-based microplate assays.







**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



1. Execute experiments to further project goals. Contribute original ideas and participate in project planning activities.



2. Should be capable of multitasking priorities and demonstrating problem solving skills in the planning and execution of objectives.



3. Interpret and summarize experimental data. Participate in the evaluation of new expression and molecular biology technologies.



4. Present experimental results at group meetings, project meetings, and department meetings, as required. Write research reports.



5. Maintain laboratory notebook in a detailed and descriptive manner. Keep current in entries into the strains and vector databases.







**QUALIFICATIONS**



B.S./M.S. degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, or a related discipline plus six years relevant experience with B.S. or five years relevant experience with M.S. Background in working with microbial pathogens is required.







Candidate should be proficient in general microbiology and molecular biology techniques, as well as have working knowledge of bacterial or viral protein expression systems. Hands on experience with the isolation of nucleic acids, construction of plasmid or viral vectors, PCR, and nucleotide sequencing is required. Experience with mammalian cell culture and transfection with recombinant plasmids or viruses is preferred. Expertise in the development of ELISA or Luminex microplate assays is essential. The candidate should be familiar with a variety of antibody-based analytic techniques such as flow cytometry, Biolayer Interferometry (Octet) or Plasmon resonance (Biacore).







Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and relevant scientific software, including bioinformatics and graphing/statistical analysis tools is expected.







The candidate must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
