Location: San Francisco, CA

Description Rinat Laboratories, division of Pfizer Inc, located in South San Francisco is looking for a bench scientist in the field of protein biochemistry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of protein chemistry and experience in biological and biophysical analytical techniques essential for protein purification and characterization. The scientist must be able to work independently, have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to present data in a group setting. The successful candidate can work within a fluid structure with multiple responsibilities and changing priorities.



**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**



+ Develop, design and execute analytical characterizations to support the collaborative groups

+ Perform biophysical purification and characterization methods, including ion exchange chromatography (IEX), isoelectric focusing (IEF), size exclusion chromatography-multi angle light scattering (SEC-MALS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), capillary electrophoresis (CE), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and/or mass spectrometry of proteins

+ Work closely with protein engineering, biology and other multi-disciplinary groups within the company to support project deliverables and timelines

+ Write internal report for characterization results independently and present data in a group setting

+ Contribute to the continuous improvement and operation of analytical platform

+ Maintain documentation including lab notebooks, test methods and protocols



**QUALIFICATIONS**



+ A BS degree with 6+ years, or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience. Industrial experience strongly preferred.

+ Solid hands-on experience in biophysical purification and characterization methods, including IEX, IEF, SEC-MALS, DSC, CE, DLS and/or mass spectrometry of proteins is essential.

+ Solid knowledge with protein expression, purification and characterization

+ Strong communication skills and exemplary attention to detail
