*Role Description*

The Regulated Clinical Biomarker/Flow Cytometry group works with clinical and translational teams across Pfizer research units to develop and implement high value, fit-for-purpose flow cytometry-based biomarker assays and supportive mechanistic studies for early phase clinical projects in a GCLP environment. We are currently seeking a laboratory scientist to support both clinical biomarker assay development and clinical trial sample processing. This scientist will act as a technical and scientific resource for assay development and sample analysis, as well as support studies to advance innovation in new biomarker technologies. The candidate may also interface with CROs for outsourced method transfer and data oversight and review. Candidate will interact with inter-departmental colleagues, clinical teams, research units and study sites in a matrix environment.



*Responsibilities*

*Candidate will participate in all phases of flow laboratory operations including new technology evaluations, the development of sample preparation and detection methods, data analysis, QC, data reporting and follow up discussions with the project teams for data integration and appropriate decision making.*Utilize current scientific literature to influence assay development strategies. *Occasional weekend work for running of clinical samples should be anticipated.*Work with research units, precision medicine and clinical assay groups in a matrix environment, influence assay development and biomarker selection strategies.*Proactively gather input from colleagues, teams & management to avoid/address issues at functional level. *Understanding of fit-for-purpose assay development and support; effectively balance assay rigor against resource needs and study goals*Participate in studies advancing new technologies or techniques to maintain the laboratory at the forefront of cellular biomarker science*Utilize GLP/GCLP guidance for execution of validation and clinical studies supporting Pfizer drug candidates in clinical development



*Qualifications*

*B.S. (>5 years) or M.S. (>3 years), in relevant scientific field with immunology and/or immuno-oncology-focused pharmaceutical or biotech experience*Experience in development, characterization, and implementation of immune cell-based pre-clinical and/or clinical biomarker assays*Experience in operation of modern flow cytometry platforms and analysis of complex flow cytometry data sets; strong knowledge of biological systems and cellular function to enable assay development and biomarker strategy objectives. *Ability act decisively and influence in a matrix environment *Excellent oral/written communication skills*Demonstrated ability to clearly & concisely communicate scientific information (including Q&A)*Knowledge and understanding of GLP and/or GCLP regulations and guidelines, and associated data/LIMS systemsPHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Occasional weekend work for running clinical samples is anticipated.
