Summary
The Scrum Master II has primary responsibility for leading the Agile process for one or more Agile/Scrum teams, ensuring predictable delivery of software. The Scrum Master plays a role in Agile planning, facilitating the Agile process, supporting delivery teams, and providing advice and guidance. The Scrum Master will work closely with product owners, development and testing teams to coach team members, eliminate barriers and address challenges to ensure delivery of sprint goals.

This role will sit on site at NextGear Capital’s location in Carmel, Indiana in one of our 5 agile rooms, designed to create a collaborative work environment for our Agile Scum teams.

Your Responsibilities:

Planning and Facilitation 
  • Prepares for and facilitates Agile planning sessions with Agile delivery teams and assists with prioritizing user stories.
  • Lead and participate in scaled agile activities such as PI Planning
  • Participate in and/or lead agile training sessions to a wide variety of audiences
  • Captures team metrics, shares with team, and suggests new metrics.
  • Agile Ceremony Facilitation
  • Facilitates daily stand-ups, sprint review meetings, retrospectives meetings, and other related meetings.
  • Participates in sprint demonstrations.
  • Removes impediments to the team’s ability to perform by working closely with Product Managers/Owners and support organizations.
  • Mediates conflicts between development team’s goal of delivering high technical quality and product owner’s goal of delivering more features.

  • Implement stakeholder engagement/ communications plans, including, for example; handling of complaints; problems and issues; managing resolutions; corrective actions and lessons learned; collection and dissemination of relevant information. 
  • Use feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure effectiveness of stakeholder management. 
  • Help develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.
  • Facilitates cross-team coordination, and fosters team collaboration and communication
  • Continuously seek to improve solution development processes and/or develops new approaches to achieving improvement.
  • Interact with other Agile Leads and Release Train Engineers to coordinate and provide metrics gathering
  • Mentors team members and other stakeholders on Agile best practices

Qualifications

Required Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3+ years of experience in an Agile software development environment leading Scrum teams.
  • Previous Scrum Master experience
  • Certified Scrum Master certification 
  • Experience with Jira, Rally, or similar Agile execution and reporting tools is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience leading new product software development
