Description Software experienced senior system architect on a DevOps team. Requires software development experience and knowledge of network infrastructure. Work with other team members to develop automation services and provide application support.



**Roles and Responsibilities:**

• The primary responsibility of these positions is to support the Data engineering needs of the client's domestic internal and external communications. Supported technologies/components include: routers and high end switches, load balancer, firewall, wireless, and other campus LAN technologies.

• The Senior Technical Architect (STA) is responsible for developing architectures; the definition of the structures of an IT solution to a business problem.

• They must be proficient at the techniques that go into the formulation of architectures, including requirements discovery and analysis, application of abstraction, formulation of solution context, solution alternatives identification and assessment, technology selection, and architectural configuration. This requires practical skills and experience with many application and infrastructure (operational) products, technologies, and services.

• Beyond the core the skills of a Technical Architect, the Senior Technical Architect must also be proficient in the use of modeling techniques such as use case, scenario modeling, prototyping, benchmarking, and performance modeling to describe the problem space, to size the solution and to validate that the proposed architecture addresses the business requirements.

• The STA must also be able to establish, implement, and enforce appropriate standards in the creation and implementation of the solution whenever project requirements call for or would benefit from the use of standards.

• This job requires applied knowledge of how to mediate opposing viewpoints and negotiate equitable solutions to ensure successful and stable outcomes.

• Must be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills which include the ability to stay on subject, leverage the use of good feedback, and use content appropriate for the audience.

• Required to maintain an in-depth base of IT industry knowledge to advise on technical trends and techniques and apply them to the development of solution designs.



**Key Competencies and Skills:**

Technical Requirements:

• Experience with various programming languages (Python/Perl/Java/MySQL/PgSQL)

• Understanding of networking and TCP/IP stack

• Enterprise LAN/WAN experience. Routing, switching, firewalls

• Understanding of Data Center design and virtualization

• Experience of administration and development on Linux operating systems

• Automation – Puppet, Chef, Ansible Go scripts

• Ability to create systematic and sustainable solutions

• Familiarity with Agile development practices.

• Cisco NSO/Tail-f experience a plus.



Non-technical requirements:

• Support application break/fix with on-call rotation responsibility

• Open TAC cases and work application problems to resolution

• Good inter-personal skills

• Responsibilities in software development, testing, and delivery

IPv6, Juniper, Programming/Scripting
