Description

Cox Communications is looking for skilled network security talent to help integrate and implement network designs by evaluating business strategies and requirements, researching network security standards, and identifying integration issues.  Responsibilities will also include identifying gaps in monitoring and automation, and providing recommendations.  The individual will be able to analyze design requirements to identify and mitigate risk with integration into production networks.

Candidate should have a strong background with network security technologies from Palo Alto Networks.  The ideal candidate will also have experience with virtual network environments, datacenter and WAN networking technologies, network security technologies from other providers, such as Juniper and Cisco and possess scripting skills in one or more languages (Python, Perl, Unix Shell, Ruby, etc.).
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Collaborate with Engineering groups to integrate new network security designs into a production network
Accountable for analyzing network change requests to determine what type of service is requested, the degree of impact, and where and when implementation should occur.
Analyze network security policy change requests to determine what type of service is requested, if it is compliant, and where implementation should occur.
Independently analyze existing tools for missing efficiencies or gaps and develop new processes for addressing automation opportunities. 
Provide network performance and capacity guidance by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
Ensure network security infrastructure and applications are maintained and patched 
Analyze existing automation scripts and tools for any missing efficiencies or gaps. 
Independently support internal and external teams in relation to information security initiatives
Provide advanced troubleshooting assistance using structured and repeatable methodology
Identify emerging security solutions and in coordination with Security Engineering, evaluate products
Appropriately respond to incident escalations and ensure appropriate follow-up based on severity level.
Recommend use cases that address specific organizational needs and / or regulatory requirements
Prepare and present dashboards for tiered support organization including but not limited to, incident trending, malicious activity, blacklisted IP's, virus activity and malicious sources
May manage intermediate level projects with Operations and Engineering to confirm delivery intervals and validate critical dates and milestones to ensure delivery of services stay on target. 
Coordinates with other departments to ensure the network is available and configured to exceed demands.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Minimum:
5-8 years of experience in networking and related field (i.e. Security Administration, Information Security, etc.) 
4+ years of direct technical network security experience
Extensive experience with data center and branch sized firewall and networking technologies from Cisco, Palo Alto and Juniper Networks.
A sound knowledge of IT security best practice, common attack types, and detection / prevention methods.
Demonstrable experience of analyzing and interpreting system, security, and application logs to diagnose faults and spot abnormal behaviors
Practical experiences using UNIX, Linux, and Windows, system administration
Strong foundation in dynamic routing protocols
Experience in systems monitoring of large networks
Experience working with managers and customers, receiving requirements and converting them into actions

Preferred: 
Experience with virtual infrastructures (KVM, VMWare)
Experience Software-defined Networks (SDN)
Scripting skills in one or more languages (BASH, Java, Python, Perl, C).
One or more security related certifications (CISSP, CISM, CEH, CFI, CNSE, JNCIS, JNCIE)
